Electricity Project

This was a uni project I did. I wanted to make abstract pieces that would invite the viewer to reflect. My inspiration came from the tiny red and green lights on electrical devices. I wanted to use these lights to portray humanity's role and relationship to the planet as a whole. I did this by juxtaposing the hand movements made when we turn these devices on or off, with these lights. I wanted to highlight our importance and influence on this planet, and show how we are part of it. I did this by comparing these tiny lights and ourselves to the magnitude of space itself and natural phenomena, such as the Aurora Borealis; the 'hand lights' are compared to a view of Earth from space, and the lights are compared to the Northern Lights.
