The Facekini Project
This was a uni project I did. The brief was to design a 3 tone publication based on 'news of the world'. I decided to tell the story of the Facekini (a colourful mask worn on the beaches in China to protect the skin from tanning). I took a humorous approach to this topic, highlighting the contrasting trends and views of how 'beauty' is perceived in the East and West. It is designed to be a light-hearted way of showing how beauty is a cultural construct, and enables the viewer to reflect on their own social programming.
